Notes:
The presentation is a comic book filled with text articles, quotes, and analysis of the work of Austrian writer and illustrator Alfred Kubin (1877-1959). Much of his series, "The Dance of Death," is presented as captioned illustrations and sketches with the theme of 'after death', or 'the other side.' Much of the work is frightening but some of it is almost whimsical, such as "In the Country," depicting an eyeballed skeleton examining a grasshopper. Kubin's work has been called ugly or harsh, but its heavy lines and horrific elements fit well with contemporary black and white content from perhaps the Warren magazines of the 1960s or 1970s.
