But during a press conference, the Chameleon tries to discredit Spider-Man – to the general public, Spider-Man seems to be hitting an elderly woman. The plan is foiled, however, and Flash Thompson convinces the crowd in Central Park to give Spider-Man a proper recognition and celebration. But everyone isn't too happy about this: J. Jonah Jameson is furious... And a mysterious character in a lab in Westchester swears that he will kill Spider-Man.
