While Superboy is on a Legion mission, Krypto patrols space and sees a colossal dog super-hero (Mammoth Mutt) killed by a missile. He learns from the dying dog about the Space Canine Patrol Agents, a group of dog super-heroes - and the Canine Caper Gang, who fired the missile at him. Krypto helps free the SCPA, learning each dog's super-power and helps them defeat Top Dog and his Canine Caper bunch. Krypto is admitted to the SCPA then returns to Earth, awaiting his next adventure with them.

Lois Lane investigates a story involving a foreign Count who is courting a movie actress named Lois La Flamme and decides to impersonate her to get to the Count. Superman discovers Lois' ruse and intervenes as Clark Kent, declaring his love to Lois La Flamme. The Count hears Clark propose to La Flamme, who announces that she is actually in love with Superman. The Count challenges Superman to a duel, but his bullet ricochets from Superman into his own chest. Lois reveals her identity to Superman who reveals the faux duel with the count (actually Jimmy Olsen) as a way of getting back at her.
