When the station's top announcer is murdered, Alan Scott applies for a job at APEX Broadcasting to investigate, but the assistant manager, Mr. Gates, tells him there are no openings. Working with Irene Miller, who coincidentally works at APEX, Scott discovers that Mr. Gates was using the announcer's program to send coded messages to his henchmen in his smuggling operations. After getting a confession out of Gates as Green Lantern, Alan frees Irene and receives a job offer from the president of APEX Broadcasting.

Notes:
Alan Scott begins working for APEX Broadcasting (the last issue that positively mentions him working there is All-American #58). In the story, Green Lantern recites a variation on his oath: "And I shall shed my light over dark evil, for the dark things cannot stand the light...the light of...Green Lantern!" In the story, when Green Lantern hit Mr. Gates on the jaw, it left behind a small "green lantern" emblem. Letterer credit verified by Martin Nodell.
