A desperate young woman is about to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge when Doone drives by and steps in to stop her at the last second. Later, over drinks at Doone's flat, he learns the reason for her distress. She's Carmel Rigby, daughter of a wealthy industrialist, and she's deep in debt to Crow Garner, owner of the Crow's Nest, a gambling joint. Garner is known for victimizing the young and naive. Carmel is scheduled to meet with Garner to settle her debt, but he wants her to bring along a friend. So Doone calls on the help of attractive Bunty St. Clair to act as her "friend".
