After all the Fred Harman newspaper stories had been reprinted in the Red Ryder comic book, the new stories in the book were ghosted by several artists. One was John Hampton, and the art here is quite similar to his Kiyotee Kid story in #40, except for the heavy inking.

Faces and lines compared with other fillers in this series point to Bill Lignante. He often signed his work, but not here.
