Nelson Mandela is born into a chief's family, but when his father asserts his authority the magistrate confiscates his land, home, and cattle. Conflicts with the regent, and with the university principal, lead Mandela and Justice (the regent's son) to steal some of the regent's cattle, sell them, and escape to Johannesburg.
