During the filming of Ethel's first important film role, she berates the director over the placement of the lights. Ethel's sister is the producer and she tries to soothe things between the director and Ethel, but he refuses to work with the spoiled young actress. However, Ethel's sister dies in an automobile accident and Ethel matures quickly under the responsibilities she inherits from her sister.

Her boyfriend always talked about how he hated the current fashions, so Dolly decides to wear one of the old dresses to the dance as a joke. Bob hates the dress, but his attitude stiffens her resolve to continue wearing the old clothes.
