When Lillian Callaghan announces she is going to marry the owner of a hamburger stand, her mother is against it. When the father is drawn into the conflict, Lillian and her sister press to find out what hold their mother has over him since he seems to have abdicated as boss of the family and allowed their mother to run everything. Then he recalls his role in helping a girl named Millie stay out of jail, not knowing she had taken bonds from a safe.
