Synopsis: Rhoda grows up with her father on a river barge, and longs for a life of luxury as epitomized by Brian’s fancy yacht. Rhoda and fisherman Mark fall in love. When Brian invites her to a party on his yacht, Mark advises Rhoda not to go because Brian’s “dubious business contacts” attend the wild parties. Rhoda attends but doesn’t tell Mark. Mark is drafted and Rhoda takes a job as Brian’s “hostess” to earn money. When the yacht nearly sinks, Rhoda is caught in the scandal and Brian, home on furlough, breaks up with her.
