When Senator Wright sides with the Indians on a proposed tax bill, Jaspar Crow objects because he stands to gain from it. A group of fifth columnists incite the Indians, who then turn on the tax collectors, forcing the Condor to use his Black Ray to help turn some of the Indians to his side.

In Manhattan, green gas was unleashed by the Green Horde, an army of monster men. The Spider succumbed to the gas and was taken beneath the streets to their leader, who claimed that his network of caverns criss-crossed the Earth. The Spider eventually choked him into unconsciousness and his Horde fell asleep as well.
