Banner Bot
In a hidden cave, beneath the burning sands...
Bruce creates an indestructible robot which is able to withstand the power of a nuclear blast but the stress of completing it on schedule causes him to transform into the Hulk and he leaves this massive weapon of awesome power unattended. A foreign spy who has been hanging around jumps into the robot and takes off. The Hulk tries to stop the robot but can't and once he is worn out from the battle, he transforms back into Banner. Found lying in the desert by Ross and Betty, Bruce vows to build a bigger and better robot to take down the first one.

In Incredible Hulk (Marvel, 1962 series) #6, Bruce still used his gamma ray machine to transform himself into the Hulk and, although "meaner" than his alter ego, the Hulk still retained Bruce's intellect. Here in Tales to Astonish all of a sudden, Bruce realizes that it is stress that causes him to become the jade giant and he does not turn back until he either calms down or wears himself out physically. Bruce and the Hulk now also have completely different personas and are only vaguely aware of what the other does. Creating a more inexplicable no-prize worthy mystery, without Rick Jones to hold them (there is your previous solution), what happens to Bruce Banner's glasses when he transforms to the Hulk and back again (in this story, they magically appear on the ground next to him in the desert after he makes the change).

Banner Bot
You've finally met your master, Hulk!
The Hulk takes on the indestructible Banner created robot and, in one of the more dubious plot devices in comics, succeeds in kicking him down a bottomless hole when he realizes that he cannot beat the machine. Glenn Talbot arrives on gamma base sent by the Pentagon to keep an eye on the suspicious activity of Bruce Banner. Glenn decides that keeping an eye on Betty seems like a good idea as well. The Hulk is felled while saving Gamma Base from a missile and Ross captures him in a special restraint built by Bruce Banner based on a design by Tony Stark.

In the "What's My Name" department, Glen, or was that Glenn Talbot makes his debut in this issue and his name is spelled both ways within back to back story panels; It takes a good ten issues before the name settles down to only using one "N" as his name is spelled both ways interchangeably until then; Over time, the second "N" was added again and has become the standard spelling. Major Talbot refers to Betty Ross as "Miss Brant" in one panel.

I'll break free sooner or later!!
The Hulk is captured in unbreakable restraints but slips through them when he turns back into Banner. Hearing that his buddy has been captured, Rick Jones leaves Captain America's side to go help the Hulk. The mysterious Leader sends the Chameleon to Gamma Base to find out what happened to an agent who didn't report back in (probably because he ended up falling down a hole in a robot suit in the previous issue). Talbot and Banner begin their less-than-friendly rivalry. The Chameleon impersonates Banner and tries to steal a gamma grenade using Betty as a hostage, but the Hulk thwarts his plans.

Banner has been jailed as a traitor and is popping tranquilizers to keep himself from turning into the Hulk. Rick goes right to the commander in chief to tell the president Banner's secret and to ask for his release. Much to Talbot's chagrin, the president orders Bruce's release and the two are sent to Astra Island to oversee testing of Banner's absorbatron which has the power to soak up a nuclear blast. Figuring that one Humanoid was not enough, the Leader sends a horde of them to Astra where they battle with the Hulk.

In correspondence with Dan Adkins Oct 2012 he mailed a letter and among other items enclosed was a photo copy of the published cover for Tales to Astonish (1959 series) #92. He wrote that Don Heck penciled the cover, and he inked, but that he was asked to redraw the Sub-Mariner figure.

“My favorite art by Don Heck. The inks are mine and I was asked to re-draw Subby. This was for my first Marvel story. The new Subby figure, by me has a fist and looks more mad than Don’s Subby. But the power and the mood is in the figure by Don.”

You seek to injure one who moves with the speed of the shrieking space-wind?!!
Having 'caught' the Silver Surfer (believing him to be an alien starship), Hulk starts a fight with perhaps the only being on Earth stronger than Hulk is. The Surfer, irritated, knocks him out, then probes Hulk to discover the reason for his belligerence and discovers the damage done by the gamma radiation. Just as the Surfer prepares to reverse the damage and return Dr. Banner's life, Hulk wakes up and, seeing the action as an attack, lashes out. Disgusted, the Surfer leaves while Hulk vows to find the Surfer again and force him to take Hulk to the stars.

With Banner trapped and about to be evolved by the High Evolutionary, the New Men attack and stop the experiment. Banner becomes the Hulk and fights the New Men. The Evolutionary decides that the only way to stop his former creations is to do to himself what he planned on doing to Banner--evolving himself a thousand years into humanity's future. In the end sets everything back to normal, as if it never happened, which results in the Hulk returning to Earth.
