The Fire-Man must discover just who is behind the mysterious burning of vehicles, so he gets Nancy to go undercover for the Acme Agency as an orphan needing a job and place to live. But she is discovered by the professor, and he demonstrates to Nancy how he uses a gas to turn a man into a living torch, which is used to destroy vehicles that are carrying large amounts of cash.
