Buck Duck, a con-man and swindler, only appears in a one-panel flashback, but the name "Buck Duck" will be rebooted as a western sheriff character in Walt Disney Comics Digest (Western, 1968 Series) #7 (January 1969), #14 (August 1969), #34 (April 1972), #39 (February 1973), as well as Donald Duck (Western, 1962 Series) #131 (May 1970), and will be drawn by a variety of well-known Disney comics artists of the period including Paul Murry, Tony Strobl, and Jack Manning.

Prior to this story, writer Vic Lockman also applied the name "Buck Duck" to a "Frank Buck, bring-'em-back-alive" type of jungle hunter relative of Donald's in Donald Duck (Western, 1962 Series) #91 (November 1963).

This story was the final appearance of Fethry Duck in the American comic books produced by Western Publishing. Though the character was very popular overseas, Fethry would only appear three times in Gold Key comic books: Donald Duck (Western, 1962 Series) #105 (January 1966), Walt Disney's Comics and Stories (Western, 1962 Series) #304 (January 1966), and this issue; Donald Duck (Western, 1962 Series) #106 (March 1966). Fethry would not catch-on in the USA until decades later with the dominance of material produced for (and by) foreign publishers.

This story is interrupted by a required Statement of Ownership, that occupies the lower half of page nine. It is unknown whether a half-page of story was deleted to create the space, or if it was conceived as a 9.5 page story. The former would be most likely.
