Tracy's ruse to catch Mr. Crime drives him to flight. When Mr. Crime tries to get his partner to flee with him, they argue and end up killing each other. After putting the case to bed, Tracy heads home but is sidetracked when he sees a small girl wandering in the snow. She points to her dog hiding in a culvert. Tracy tries to coax the dog out and then finds himself trapped as three thugs tie his wrists to the culvert supports and leave him to die.

On Page 4, Panel 3 of the story, Courtney Rulings says "They'll never take me alive!" It's obvious that the gun in his mouth has been removed from the panel. In the following panel, Mr. Crime is pointing a gun, obviously firing and wincing from being shot, even though no bullets the newspaper he's firing that gun and has bullets hitting him. The newspaper strip shows gunfire and also shows Mr. Crime being hit by bullets. This was the first issue produced under "guidance" of the Comics Code Authority.

We sent the wires.
Odds offers Tracy a bribe of $100,000 while Tracy lies trapped in the wooden culvert, but Tracy manages to escape his trap. He then radios Sam to help him set a trap for the thugs who imprisoned. Tracy positions himself back in the culvert as if he's still trapped, and he and Sam catch the henchmen who offered him the bribe. Odds Zonn remains at large.
