This does not sit well with Snobbs, the tycoon's resentful, scheming (and aptly named) butler.

Notes: Ad offering mail subscriptions to Felix the Cat at 60¢ for one year or $1.00 for two years.

This most unusual setup for a comic book subscription ad is laid out in two paragraphs - each with its own leading illustration.

PARAGRAPH ONE: Illustration of mother bird, father bird, and baby bird. "This little bird is happy on his birthday because he has just been given the fattest worm by his proud parents. His father had to search for miles and miles and his mother prepared it with loving care."

PARAGRAPH TWO: Illustration of human mother, human father, and Johnny. "This little boy is happy too. He did not get a fat worm for his birthday. His father was too lazy to go out searching for one. His father filled out a coupon for a year's subscription for FELIX THE CAT Comics. Mother baked him a beautiful birthday cake. Although FELIX THE CAT Comics can't compete with mother's cake, there is this to say for FELIX THE CAT Comics. After the cake has gone the way of all cakes, every month FELIX THE CAT Comics arrives as a reminder of Johnny's birthday right until the next year. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!"

Oddly, the character of FELIX THE CAT does NOT appear in the ad. Perhaps it was used for other Dell titles, the names of which were dropped-in each time "FELIX THE CAT Comics" appeared in this unique ad copy. Also, for what it's worth, FELIX THE CAT Comics cannot arrive EVERY MONTH "...as a reminder of Johnny's birthday", as the title is published bi-monthly. (An indication that this ad was indeed used for different titles?)
