When Tarzan is injured and loses his memory looting gold from Opar, Werper misleads him and steals his pouch of jewels. The Waziri, returning home and thinking Tarzan dead, discover that Achmet Zek has captured Jane and set out in pursuit. The Beast-Men of Opar capture Tarzan but he frees himself, forces them to submit to La, and sets off in quest of his "pretty pebbles."

Since Bantu is the smallest dog in the village, and Hambi the smallest five year-old child, they need to use their wits to get along. The chief's rooster torments both of them until Hambi trips as the rooster attacks, dislodging a dead eagle trophy that terrorizes the rooster.
