Popular Comics text
Ted Burtis (16 year old rustic); Clem Burtis (a rustic, Ted's father); two enemy officers (Japanese military); enemy Japanese soldier
The war seemed far away to Ted Burtis, as he snowshoed home from his winter trapline---very far from Vancouver Island's moonlit forests.
A Jap plane lands on the ice. Shots! Ted approaches the cabin cautiously. Enemy Japanese! Finding Dad wounded, broken wrist, Ted gives him his parka, and removes him to safety, returns to the cabin, sees officers inside planning for more planes to come. He plants a dynamite bomb. Stringing the wire, a Jap finds him. They struggle, but he depresses the plunger, obliterating the cabin and the occupying enemy, and the soldier is killed by debris. Returning to Dad, they have a slog to town ahead of them.
