However, after she's been stabbed Mrs. Dark reveals she poisoned Mr. Dark to death - she isn't the "good" victim they sought.

As Samuel is dying, Dr. Latham gives him pills. When Harold arrives Latham claims Samuel is dead as they had arranged. Harold plans to nail his uncle's body up inside the coffin to prevent any future autopsies but when Latham intervenes, Harold kills him. Harold has a story prepared for the police about Latham's death but when the police arrive they find Samuel alive inside the coffin - Latham's pills simulated death so Samuel could spy on his nephew's true character.
