Vernon, who is attracted to Kitty and doesn't look down on her, agrees to drive her home. Vernon encourages Kitty’s father to resume his artistic career, and eventually marries Kitty.

Kip’s sister Pam urges Gloria to attend a party and end Kip’s infatuation with her once and for all by “acting natural.” Gloria is the life of the party and then discovers this was Pam and Kip’s plan: his parents like Gloria’s true personality and her vivaciousness and approve of their engagement.
