Notes:
Page seventy-seven appears for the first time in English here. Page ninety-seven was drawn just for this volume, not published in France at the time this book came out.
The "Jerry Cornelius" name from the original has been changed to "Lewis Carnelian." According to the afterword, Moebius felt the usage of that Michael Moorcock-derived name had run its course.
The title "The Garage Hermetic of Lewis Carnelian" was retained as the interior title in order to preserve the integrity of the lettering and because it has more resonance than the better known "Airtight Garage" name.
Moebius notes in the introduction that there are several homages embedded in the story, including a page inspired by Will Eisner. The end sequence was intended as a homage to the superhero genre; the Grubert/ Carnelian flying sequence was inspired by an "Iron Man" comic book panel.
