The Bitter Litter Battle

Story  on  Interior Page(s)
Subject Matter
anthropomorphic
Chilly Willy; Daddy Drink (anthropomorphic ocean); Bully Bear; Gustov Wind (anthropomorphic cloud/breeze)
Yeowie! Must you go into a rage when I’m on your back, Daddy Drink?
The ocean literally rebels against the great amount of trash that is continually thrown into it, to the extent that it throws an anthropomorphic fit while Chilly is peacefully fishing, shaking the penguin up. Boorish Bully Bear is the primary source of the litter, so Chilly helps “Daddy Drink” (the ocean) and “Gustov Wind” (the cloud/breeze) turn the tables on the litterbug-bear.

New story. A very unusual story for Western Publishing, as both the ocean and the wind take on anthropomorphic qualities, exhibit speech, and have proper names ("Daddy Drink", "Gustov Wind"). Such an approach was often seen in Harvey Comics, particularly those concerning Casper the Friendly Ghost’s “Enchanted Forest”, but is an extremely rare occurrence – if not the first such occurrence, not involving witchcraft or other supernatural influences – for Western’s funny animal comics.

Space Mouse
Space Mouse, Hi-Pie (leader of the Pie-Eaters)
Space Mouse cruised in his Lunar Schooner, through the skies past two small neighboring planets.
Space Mouse discovers two neighboring planets fighting a war by throwing cakes and pies at each other. Since the reason for war is “which-is-better-cakes-or-pies”, and no one is being harmed beyond a occasional cake or pie in the face, Space Mouse leaves them to their sticky skirmishing – but not before sampling some of the goodies.
