Our unofficial title, "Die FLUTE-ermaus", is a pun on the title of the operetta "Die Fledermaus" by Johann Strauss II, first performed in 1874.

A similar gag, this time with Tom playing a trumpet, appears on the cover of Tom & Jerry Comics (Dell, 1949 Series) #161 (December 1957). https://www.comics.org/issue/13942/

The mice cannibalize an old alarm clock's workings and springs to build a makeshift motor for their mini-plane, and endlessly annoy Tom with their pesky aerial antics.

Artistic Oddity: At the party all the female cats wear gowns and all the male cats wear tuxedos... but Tom's is the only tuxedo without a pair of trousers. That ought to embarrass him far more than any entertainment undermining carried out by Jerry and Tuffy.

The pre-existing Jack Cosgriff writing credit is intriguing. He was a writer during the Golden Age of theatrical animation, working for MGM and Walter Lantz but, unlike Michael Maltese, I'd never known him for writing comics for Western. An Advanced Query turns up 33 credits at GCD, of which only EIGHT were for Dell/Western - the most notable of which was the full 32-page Tom and Jerry story that appeared in Four Color #193 (1948).

The other credits were with Pines and ACG. The Tom and Jerry comic book stories during the Dell era were uncredited masterpieces of comic writing - and largely (if not completely) appear to be the work of one individual. Some of the humor and dialogue smacks of Michael Maltese, but I've never been certain enough to even consider listing him with a "question mark".

...Might Jack Cosgriff be the uncredited writer of so many of these great stories?
