Flubber, the bouncy material featured in several Disney films, figures into the plot's climax. The scientist who loses a ball of Flubber, is drawn to look somewhat like actor Fred MacMurray - the "Absent-Minded Professor" of Flubber fame.

In an additional Disney cinematic reference, The Yappies (the two tough bone-stealing alley-dogs) sing the following as they blatantly dig up the buried bones of other dogs: "Oh, the world owes us a living... We love takin' but we hate giving..." The song "The World Owes Me a Living" was first featured in Walt Disney's theatrical 1934 Silly Symphonies animated short "The Grasshopper and the Ants".
