Naomi is angry because her family is poor. Buzz sees her steal a dress but instead of turning her in, he takes her to the prom. Buzz is a criminal, but vows to go straight if Naomi helps him for a month so they can amass enough cash to marry. Naomi is caught, arrested and sent to prison for two years. When she’s released, Buzz orders her to work for Rod, who knows the secret location of a plutonium mine. Naomi and Rod fall in love, and she discovers Buzz has just been using her to get the mine's location. Naomi helps Rod defeat the crooks and they will be married.

She falls in love with him but he thinks she’s after his money. Glenn loses his fortune, then admits he knew it was Beth all the time, and they will marry.

Because of her morbid fear of men, Alicia takes a job as secretary-companion to an elderly invalid woman. When the woman’s son Earl makes a pass at her, Alicia flees. She’s rescued by Gregg, a doctor. When Gregg is later assaulted by a mental patient, Alicia intervenes because she loves him. Gregg says he’s a psychiatrist, and ascertains that Alicia was assaulted by a surly hobo when she was a child. Now that she knows the truth, “you’ll never be afraid of a man again!” Gregg and Alicia will marry.

Joyce leaves her job as a waitress and becomes an airline hostess, dumping her boyfriend Arthur, a short-order cook. Joyce dates pilot Wade, but catches him romancing Eve, the daughter of the owner of the airline. An inebriated Wade then takes off with Joyce on board and Arthur as one of the passengers. Arthur, an aerial gunner during the war, manages to land the plane safely. Joyce decides that Arthur’s the man for her.
