The original printing, in M.G.M.’s Tom and Jerry Winter Fun (Dell, 1954 Series) #3 (December 1954), was an untitled six-page story in Dell/Western’s standard four-tiers-per-page panel layout. For Golden Comics Digest #13, a story title has been added, and it has been reformatted to three tiers per page.

The word "happening", in the title "A Hero Happening", might not have been used if 1954's original version had been titled, as it acquired an additional meaning as an "in" type of "occurrence" during the counterculture movement of the 1960s.
