The character of Mr. Souphound is drawn exactly as Heckle and Jeckle’s perpetual victim Dimwit, while Hardtack strongly resembles Chesty the Bulldog. Stock Terrytoon character models employed here?

The character models for Dimwit, and Chesty the Bulldog seem more natural and “at home” in a Heckle and Jeckle story, as they would in a Heckle and Jeckle cartoon, vs. appearing as supporting characters in a Dinky Duck farmyard outing (above). Terrytoons animator Connie Rasinski draws this story in a lively and fast-paced animated style. Wobbly special effects lettering is used for the “ghostly speech”. Not a common practice for 1948.
