The horses and faces point this to John Prentice, and he is credited to Hillman westerns in Jerry Bails' Who's Who.

McCann is credited to Hillman westerns by Jerry Bails' Who's Who. He is easy to recognise by his long noses, heavy shading and much black inking, like a long gloomy funeral. He was a painter, and that may account for the complete lack of action. He also made "The Conspiracy of Pontiac" and "Off on a Comet" in Classics Illustrated.
