Deputy Marshall Gene, pursuing a criminal into Mexico, tracks him solo with Federales permission, finds the criminal's corpse, a victim of fierce Indians, is taken by Chief Yakut, rescues Yakut's Christian son Tomah while Yakut believes both have died in The River of the Lost along with his Christian daughter Linda who eloped with her beloved Mateo to whom she was wed by the old missionary to the Indians before he died days earlier. Gene and Tomah connect up with Linda and Mateo, and Gene finds a way out of the canyon, finds the lost mines and ghost town of El Naranjal, rich in gold and food.
