Synopsis:
Lonnie falls off his horse, saddle girth broken. Jeanne falls off her horse into the creek, hits head on rock, Silver rescues her. Sleeping six-year-old Martha on folks' mare Nellie with corn sacks got separated from the wagons. Up arroyo, a coyote's howl sent Nellie running, and Martha awoke. Silver, protector of his band, investigates. He accepts Nellie, the other mares tear at the corn sacks, Martha is unseated, stranded. Four big buffalo wolves scent her, close in, she cries for help. Silver saves her, kills wolves. Search party finds her, evidence corroborates her tale of Silver's deed.
