Dragon [Mark Dagon]; Serpent; Javed; The Flame of Allah, a terrorist leader; unnamed Islamic terrorists; Sal Martello, an American diplomat; an unnamed merchant; Ashira, the merchant's daughter; unnamed Crusaders
Dragon and Serpent are the last male and female of an dragon race. Aside from being normally large dragons, they share a unique ability-- they can change into human form. Having recently discovered each other, they continue travelling the world together while working on their new-found relationship. In Egypt, they are kidnapped by terrorists who are using the same hostage prison that Mark had been 800 years earlier. In flashback, during the Second Crusade, Mark freed an Egyptian woman who had been kidnapped by some knights and held prisoner in this same prison.
