Brad Peters; Helen Peters; Marge; Mother Peters; Helen's mother
Helen’s parents were divorced when she was young, and her mother blamed it on her mother-in-law. When Helen’s husband Brad suggests bringing his mother to their home to visit, Helen is opposed. She later learns Brad has been visiting his mother daily, and that the older woman is ill and must move into their home. Helen is unable to tolerate Mrs. Peters and goes home to her own mother, who admits that her marriage didn’t fail because of her mother-in-law, but because of her own immaturity.
