Jim and his fiancée Terry co-own a failing restaurant; she wants to hire a “name band” to boost business, but he says they can’t afford it. Using her own money, Terry hires bandleader Ralph Flanagan, which ruins Jim’s plans to sell out to Mr. Gainer. Jim angrily leaves. The restaurant is a success, but Terry misses Jim. Ralph sends Jim a fake telegram indicating Terry is in the hospital, and Jim rushes to her side. They reconcile.

Nancy criticizes the accommodations and the behavior of the soldiers, and she and Bill argue. They’re trapped in the middle of a battle and Nancy redeems herself, doing “everything but shoot.” She visits a wounded Bill in the hospital to apologize, and they make up.

Race-car driver Les loses his nerve and begins to drink. This ruins his career and he breaks up with his wife Laura. An owner offers Les a spot driving in a race and he accepts; when Les gets cold feet at the last minute, the other man says Laura financed the car so Les could make a comeback. Les wins the race, is reunited with Laura, and decides to retire and design cars for others.
