Mary is unsure if she wants to settle down and marry her boyfriend Bob. She’s swept off her feet by the slick “promoter” Steve, even though her friends warn her that he’s a phony. Steve asks Mary to loan him $500 for a big deal and she gets the money from Bob, only to discover Steve is a con man. Bob says he still loves Mary and they are happily reunited. Steve escapes to grift another day.

Dorothy comes to Ray for advice on how to win back her former boyfriend Joe. Ray passes the buck to readers of Love Diary comics.

Sharon and Doug fall in love, but when he’s offered a better job in another town, she doesn’t want to leave and convinces him to turn down the offer. Doug says he will marry her right away and buy the house she’s always wanted, but his mother will have to live with them for a couple of years to help with expenses. Sharon agrees but lies to his mother and says Doug doesn’t want her with him. His mother tries to commit suicide and Doug learns the truth. He and his mother move away, leaving Sharon alone and remorseful.

After winning the state contest, Lorraine seems to have a bright future in movies, television and modeling, but Jim breaks up with her since his law practice is in their hometown, Gotham City. Lorraine becomes disgusted with the superficiality of the modeling world and comes home to Jim. They marry and have a son.
