Oesterheld proposed doing a biography of Eva Perón to Alberto Breccia once they had completed their biography of Che Guevara. However, Oesterheld's script didn't see print in the published work - journalist Luis Alberto Murray authored the text found in the original 1970 edition. In the early 2000s Oesterheld's original script was discovered, and an updated edition with the original script was published for the first time by Doedytores in 2002. It's this edition that Fantagraphics has translated. The art is reprinted from Vida y obra de Eva Perón (Héctor A. Marafoschi, 1970) (Oesterheld's script was written between 1968 and 1970.)
