Small town newspaper proprietor Walter marries Dottie, and she encourages him to move to the city where he can achieve his dream of becoming an artist. After being rejected numerous times, Walter is about to give up. He learns Dottie is going to apply for a job as a “janitress” to support them until he succeeds. This makes Walter increase his efforts and he finally gets a break, thanks to Dottie’s support.

Abbey; Corporal Lee Morgan; Helen
Depressed when her longtime boyfriend Ted marries someone else, Abbey attempts to commit suicide but is rescued by soldier Lee. Abbey wants revenge on men, so she dates Lee and makes him fall in love with her. Lee admits he’ll now have to break up with his hometown girlfriend Helen. Abbey, even after discovering she really loves Lee, refuses to allow Helen’s heart to be broken as hers was. Helen visits Abbey and says she can’t make Lee as happy as Abbey would, and gives him up. Lee and Abbey reconcile.
