On the island of Pacifica, Brooks Yamashiro and his best friend, Ryoshi Mori, are exploring a remote beach when...
Strange crystals give Brooks the power to increase his size and strength, at the cost of exhaustion. When a dictator attacks and captures a nearby island, Brooks and Ryoshi lead their neighbors and the refugees to attack, drive out the enemy, and free the nearby island.

The main text novel concerns two 13-year-old comic book fans, constantly planning the comics they will create one day. They are caught up in the Pearl Harbor attack, facing fears, danger, and tragedy. This sequence is the story they finally create and publish, 20 years later, as an experienced professional writer and an experienced professional artist, building on their childhood plans, and on the horrors of Pearl Harbor.
This page count includes "About the Creators" (fictitious, one page) and the one-page cover of the fictitious comic book ("The Arsenal of Democracy," Timeless Comics, December 1961, 12 cents).
