Alice and her roommate May volunteer to entertain servicemen at a nearby camp. Alice falls in love with Marine private Jimmy, but catches him kissing May and they break up. May says Jimmy is heir to a fortune and that's why she stole him away. However, Jimmy explains that May tricked him into kissing her and he really loves Alice. Before Jimmy ships out for Korea, he and Alice are wed.

Alice is released from the reformatory on parole and gets a job as a secretary for Charles and his assistant Walt. She and Walt fall in love. Charles threatens to give her parole officer a bad report unless she dumps Walt and goes out with him. The jealous Charles fires Walt and Alice confesses her parolee status. Her parole officer is understanding, especially when Walt appears and says he intends to marry Alice.

Diana dates Army captain Andy but becomes angry when he deserts her to chat up Helen. Diana turns her attentions to George, who warns her against Andy. Diana's father, a retired military officer, says no one with Andy's name is assigned to the base. Andy explains that George and Helen are spies and he's undercover. Diana doesn't believe him at first, but Andy rescues her from the two enemy agents and they reconcile.

Heiress Carol has only a few months to live due to an illness. She falls in love with gardener Bruce and they wed, but she begins to feel Bruce is really only interested in getting her money after she dies. Two grifters who raised Bruce, Jim and Dotty, arrive to share the loot. However, Bruce discovers housekeeper Mrs. Parsons has been slowly poisoning Carol: he turns her over to the police and ejects his free-loading relatives, so he and Carol can be together, in love.
