Marge resigns her job with doctor Roger because her fiancé Jack has returned from the Korean War with an injured arm. Marge says she'll marry Jack even though she loves Roger. Jack, an architect, feels his life is over. Marge helps Jack exercise his arm but decides occupational therapist Ruth may be able to do more good. Ruth's therapy restores Jack's ability to work and they fall in love. Marge can now return to Roger with a clean conscience.

Martha has always felt unattractive, even though she has "lovely eyes and a perfect figure!" As an adult, she has a crush on her apartment neighbour Charlie. When Charlie accidentally kisses her during a party, Martha is embarrassed and moves away. After having plastic surgery, she returns to the apartment house. No one recognises her but all of the men are friendly. Charlie says there was "a kiss that changed his life" earlier. Martha kisses him and admits she's the same person. Charlie says "you didn't need the operation" to have his life, but "No man is sorry to have a beautiful wife!"

Lucy meets soldier Bob at a USO dance. They fall in love. He gets orders to ship out, and invites Lucy to New York to meet his parents. When Lucy arrives, Bob says his parents were called away suddenly. She thinks it was a trick to get her in the apartment alone, and flees. However, after thinking it over, Lucy realises she loves Bob and returns. He says his parents showed up after all.

Teen-agers Ricky and Elaine want get married but her parents say Ricky's part-time job "wouldn't support a canary" and forbid them to date any more. Elaine says she's going to visit a friend, but she and Ricky go into the city to have dinner. They're trapped by an ice storm, argue, and spend the night in the bus station. When Elaine gets home, her parents don't believe the ice storm story and fear scandal. However, their minister verifies the bad weather tale. Elaine's parents apologise for not trusting her, and say she can date Ricky again.
