While visiting her father on a construction job in the Northwest, Shelley meets Rock, a demolition expert. They fall in love and marry, but Shelley grows bored with their itinerant life. She convinces Rock to take her to a dance and to allow another man to handle a job, but something goes wrong and workers are killed. Rock and Shelley separate but she realises his work is his life and she loves him anyway. They reconcile.

Claire Brewster; Grant Dennis; Dan Hunt
Claire grew up in an orphanage and is bitter about her life there. When she becomes a radio announcer, Claire gives newscaster Grant anonymous tips about poor conditions at the orphanage. New director Dan complains this information is outdated. Claire feigns interest and even though she sees improvements have been made, still wants revenge. Claire dates Dan to get the inside story, and eventually changes her mind. Dan discovers she’s been spreading the false stories and breaks up with her. A repentant Claire spearheads a fundraising campaign for the orphanage and Dan forgives her.

Kay is attracted to Greg, the mature architect hired to design Walt and Kay’s new home. However, when Greg’s interior designer Elise seems to be making a play for Walt, Kay becomes jealous and realizes she loves Walt. Even though she learns this was a deliberate scheme of Greg and Elise, Kay doesn’t care.
