When her bus breaks down, Gloria accepts a ride from cynical drifter Joe. Although she’s engaged to Hal, Joe and Gloria begin to see each other. When Gloria’s house is robbed, Joe is suspected, but the real culprit is revealed to be Hal, who stole to pay his gambling debts. Gloria and Joe are reunited.

Kid Martin [Larry Martin]; Lou; Pete Lowry; Teddy Lewis
Boxer Larry and nightclub singer Teddy fall in love. She is proud of his ring accomplishments, but while training for a title fight, Larry learns he has a heart condition that will end his career. He decides to fight anyway, and doesn’t tell Teddy about his heart because she says “I don’t like has-beens.” Just before the bout, Larry’s manager tells Teddy the truth. Teddy tells Larry that she loves him for himself and doesn’t want him to fight any more.

Linda is the understudy for star dancer Marilyn. Linda is engaged to George but won’t marry him until she gets a chance to prove herself as a dancer. Linda rigs a trapdoor on the stage to open when Marilyn is performing: instead of the sprained ankle Linda expected, Marilyn suffers a career-ending spine injury. George discovers what Linda did and breaks up with her. Linda devotes herself to helping Marilyn recover, and finally confesses to her. Marilyn doesn’t hold a grudge, and even helps reunite the repentant Linda and George.

However, after Ed and Rose have gone out for some time, he tells her that he is really interested in dating Rose’s shy fellow worker Grace. Rose is outraged and vows revenge. When Ed and Grace start dating, Rose tells Grace that Ed is a womanizer. Rose becomes engaged to Larry, Ed’s brother, but jilts him to hurt Ed, even though she really loves Larry. Rose admits she lied about Ed; Grace and Ed reconcile, but Rose has lost Larry forever. She leaves town, alone.
