Gloria’s boyfriend Ken returns from military service in Korea and seems changed. He is quick to anger and suffers from headaches. Gloria asks Dr. Crane for help but Ken refuses assistance, admitting he was discharged due to “shell shock.” Crane says Ken has a “guilt neurosis” because he couldn’t save a comrade during the war. When Ken’s car plunges off a bridge into a river, he escapes then dives back in to save Gloria. This proves to Ken that he’s not a coward and he can now recover and marry Gloria.
