Disclose Notes: Newton had published Spider-Man (and several other Marvel characters) before, courtesy of the comics supplement in his Sunday Observer newspaper.

On 25th May 1975 an advance notice was printed at the bottom of the comics supplement and a full advert for the upcoming #1 appeared on 1st June 1975 with several follow-up adverts at least over several weeks of that month.
