Hillbilly Suzie is courted by all the eligible men around, but Seth won’t demean himself like the others. Suzie runs off to the city with tourist Chuck, then discovers he’s a bookie. Chuck uses Suzie to deliver betting slips. The police arrest Suzie and Chuck; he goes to jail and she’s sent home. Suzie apologizes to Seth and he forgives her.

Ellen; Mike; Mildred; Dick
Ellen convinces struggling artist Mike to marry her, even though she’ll have to support them both with her job. Her friend Mildred considers Mike a “parasite who thinks he’s too much of a genius to do some real work.” Ellen eventually comes to believe the same thing, and leaves Mike. Months pass and Ellen learns Mike has become a success. She refuses to go back to him because she was “a fair-weather wife,” but Mike shows up and they reconcile.

Jane is a lonely, repressed office worker who has “guilt feelings about being attractive” because her mother told her it was “wicked to let boys kiss you.” She falls in love with co-worker Bob but when Jane accidentally gets in a car with a stranger and drives off, he considers her “anybody’s easy pick-up!” and breaks up with her. Bob didn’t realize that the stranger’s car was identical to his and Jane just made a mistake. When Bob learns the truth, he asks Jane to forgive him and they are reunited.
