This story is in continuity and explains the post-1945 Captain America. It features the debut of the Spirit of '76 as the second Captain America and his death, as well as the introduction of the Patriot as the third Captain America. The story segment with Adam II takes place after the last Patriot story in Marvel Mystery Comics #74, between All Winners Comics #19 and #21, and "explains" the All-Winners Squad's missing case.

Timeline for this issue:
¤ President Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) dies on April 12, 1945. He is replaced by the Vice-President, Harry S. Truman.
¤ A top secret dispatch dated April 18, 1945 says Captain America and Bucky are dead. The story states Captain America and Bucky died "a few days" after FDR. Their "deaths" may have occurred prior to April 18.
¤ Adolph Hitler is killed by the Human Torch on April 30, 1945.
¤ William Naslund and Fred Davis are introduced as the new Captain America and Bucky on the night of April 30. The Whizzer and Miss America join the Invaders.
¤ Germany formally surrenders on May 8, 1945.
¤ After Japan's surrender on September 2, 1945, President Truman requests that the team stay together to fight crime and the black market. He suggests that they change their name to the All-Winners Squad.
¤ John F. Kennedy (JFK) announces his candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives, in the 11th Congressional District of Massachusetts, on April 22, 1946.
¤ Although they had fought together for many months, the All-Winners Squad's first major effort didn't occur until the Spring of 1946, when they battled Isbisa, the first true atomic-age villain (as shown in this issue, the events of All-Winners Comics #19 occur shortly before the JFK segment, a few months earlier than the comic's actual publication date of July 24, 1946).
¤ The JFK segment of this story takes place in Boston and mentions that Kennedy is one of 10 candidates running in the Democratic Primary. The Primary Election took place on June 18, therefore this story takes place before then (the retelling of this story in Captain America: Patriot #1 incorrectly sets these events during JFK's July 4th speech, weeks after his Primary win). The story states that "two Captain Americas had perished these past twelve months", suggesting that this segment takes place in late April or May 1946.

Based on the events shown in this issue, it is possible to approximate which of Captain America's exploits are retroactively attributed to William Naslund and which to Jeff Mace. The adventures of Fred Davis as Bucky are also noted below.
¤ William Naslund: Captain America Comics #49 (Aug 1945, first adventure); All-Winners Comics (1941 series) #19 (Fall 1946, final adventure); also in All-Select Comics #8-10, All-Winners Comics (1941 series) #16-18, Captain America Comics #50-58, and USA Comics #16-17.
¤ Jeff Mace: Captain America Comics #59 (Nov 1946, first adventure); Captain America's Weird Tales #74 (Oct 1949, final adventure); also in All-Winners Comics (1946 series) #21, All-Winners (1948 series) #1, Blonde Phantom Comics #16, Captain America Comics #60-73, Human Torch #33 and #35, Marvel Mystery Comics #80-92, and Sub-Mariner Comics #31.
¤ Fred Davis: Captain America Comics #49 (Aug 1945, first adventure); Captain America Comics #71 (March 1949, final adventure); also in All-Select Comics #8-10, All-Winners Comics (1941 series) #16-19, All-Winners Comics (1946 series) #21, All-Winners (1948 series) #1, Blonde Phantom Comics #16, Captain America Comics #50-66, Kid Komics #8-10, Marvel Mystery Comics #75-86, Sub-Mariner Comics #22, USA Comics #16-17, and Young Allies Comics #17-20.
