Synopsis:
Marcel Clouzot, a ministry clerk, returns home to find his wife murdered. He confronts the murderer, but is knocked out and the police arrive to discover the knife used to kill his wife in his hand. He is convicted of his wife's murder and sent to prison where Bretone, another convict provokes a confrontation. In the ensuing fight with the larger man, Clouzot fights with great determination. He later discovers that the fight was intentionally set up as a test by one of the other convicts. This convict gives him the nickname Cayenna.
