Disclose Notes: Final Whitman issue.

Cover code: 90027. No cover date appears on cover or in indicia. On-sale date from The Comic Reader #217.

All reprint issue. Cover and comic contents are all reprint. No interior ads in this issue. Ads are limited to inside and back covers.

The issue code appearing in the bottom tier of page one reads 90027-208 (...with "208" translating to August, 1982). The previous issue, #217 had an issue code of 90027-206 (...with "206" translating to June, 1982).

Issue #216 had a published cover date of April, 1982, meaning that this issue (#218) and its predecessor (#217) were likely delayed (or on hiatus) for about two years, given the irregular suspensions and restarts of the Whitman line during its final years.

Mickey and Goofy have been called by Chief O'Hara to help figure out a strange epidemic of generosity which has gripped their town.
Following a lead on the "generosity epidemic", Mickey and Goofy run across an isolated countryside mansion, where Mickey is immediately ejected by the butler. Then, the gardener, posing as an innocent van driver, locks the pair in the back of the van and lets it roll off a steep cliff into a rushing river. Narrowly escaping their four-wheeled death trap, they make their way back to the mansion where Goofy boosts Mickey over the high stone wall. Inside Mickey meets J. Pinpoint Broadloam, an eccentric but harmless horticulturist... and recognizes Broadloam's gardener as the murderous van driver.

While following a hunch during the investigation of a number of incidents involving bankers and jewelers who gave away money and valuables to perfect strangers for no apparent reason, Mickey thinks he has the explanation for it all...
Mickey, at last, discovers the reason for the unexplained "epidemic of generosity" that has hit the city, where people are handing over various things, valuable and otherwise, for no reason. A rare flower, bred by J. Pinpoint Broadloam, called the "Dizzy Daisy" emits a fragrance that causes a momentary impulse to give things away. Recognizing the problems such a mind-altering plant could cause, Broadloam keeps his "Dizzy Daisies" in a special locked greenhouse. Mickey also finds that Skragg the butler and Mulch the gardener have accessed the greenhouse to use the flowers for criminal gain.
