Forest ranger Rip Burns is instructed to search for poachers. He comes across a gang using a truck and a bright spotlight in order to 'freeze' the deer while being shot. Burns is knocked unconscious, but discovers the name of the culprit at a way station.

Away out west in San Francisco, after a good deal of thought a young lady writes a letter...
Lilly Belle rejects Le Zard's proposal of marriage in favor of Norman Rogers. Le Zard murders Rogers, staging it to look like a suicide, but still has no luck gaining her affections. Eventually, proof of the murder takes Le Zard to the electric chair.
