Mid-November 1989: Receiving a message from his Uncle Ho that the Red Chinese government is moving against the Shaolin temple where he studied kung fu, Hayashi Kato leaves the City for Hong Kong. He is met at the airport by Ulysses Chow, a friend of his uncle, who takes him to two others, Carter Lin and his sister Redgrave. The siblings show the two the beginning of the surreptitious route into the People's Republic, but stay in Hong Kong "to continue the fight for democracy." As Kato and Ulysses come within sight of the temple, they are confronted by Communist troops.

Notes:
1: About the dating--in the letter column of #4, the editor states that the events of this miniseries take place while Hayashi's half-sister Mishi is the modern Green Hornet's partner, contemporaneous with NOW's Green Hornet (1989 series, aka V.1), #s 6-10 (though Hayashi is present in #s 6 & 7, in a secondary capacity); captions in #6 have that beginning November 5, 1989, and the second and third Family Trees features (Tales of the Green Hornet V.2, #2 and The Green Hornet V.2, #26, respectively) both indicate she did not wear the mask into 1990, and that Hayashi did not re-don his until that new year; his first story back in costume contains decidedly wintery weather.
2: At one point, Kato says that his mother was a Chinese who took the Japanese name Oshura upon her marriage, to justify the Chinese orientation of this story against all the previous NOW Comics continuity of the Kato family being Japanese.
