After overthrowing General Alcazar, General Tapioca imprisons Bianca Castafiore and her entourage when they arrive in San Thedodoros on a singing tour. Tintin, Calculus, and Captain Haddock make their way to San Theodoros in order to save their friends, and narrowly escape being murdered by Tapioca's men. They flee into the jungle to join General Alcazar and his Picaro rebels. Disguised as carnival dancers the Picaros enter the city, overthrow Tapioca, and rescue the prisoners from a firing squad.
